Love it!! July 26, 2007 E. Young (Philadelphia, PA) 24 out of 24 found this review helpful
The first washer arrived damaged. I called Target and they were so helpful. UPS picked up the damaged unit with no problem. The new one arrived a couple of days later and thankfully was in perfect condition. We easily put it together. As others have mentioned the directions were kind of vague. But other than that assembly went quickly. It is now up and running. I did two loads of wash in my own apartment last night! It is like a miracle!
I was considering the smaller 8lb. model but I am so glad that I upgraded. The 11lb. model has an agitator, wheels that come with it and are optional to attach, a bleach dispenser and a fabric softener dispenser. It is also super quiet.
I would recommend this to anyone who hates the laundromat and is sick of dragging their clothes out of the house to wash them. I just wish I had know these portable washes existed sooner, I would have bought one a long time ago. It is going to change my life!
If you are thinking about buying one - just do it, you will not regret it.
EXCELLANT PRODUCT April 22, 2009 D. CLAYTON (COLUMBUS OHIO) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
THIS WASHER HOLDS MORE THAN I THOUGHT IT WOULD. ITS QUIET, WASHES EVERYTHING CLEAN, SPINS OUT 99% OF THE WATER. THE OTHER REVIEWER IS RIGHT ABOUT REMOVING THE BACK LEGS-ITS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE SO YOU CAN LEVEL THEM. HOWEVER I BOUGHT FURNITURE SLIDERS AND GAVE UP TRYING TO REMOVE THE LEGS-JUST ATTACHED THE SLIDERS AND SOLVED THE PROBLEM. I HIGHLY RECOMMENT THIS WASHER; FOR THE MONEY YOU CANT BEAT IT.
Bigger & Better than I thought it would be!! January 1, 2009 Jennifer Rodriguez (San Ramon, CA United States) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have 4 small children (living in an apartment) and going to the laundry facility to the laundry was impossible. I got the machine and the matching dryer and they both work great! It has definately made my life easier and the clothes are so much cleaner than before. I would highly recommend this product.

Perfect for Apartment May 27, 2008 J. Liu (Rochester, MI USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this haier portable washer from Amazon in 2003, work perfectly, very quiet, never had any problem, the manual is not very helpful, but you can easily figure it out yourself if your are not that stupid. anyway, a wonderful choice for living in apartment, save a lot money, really, and most importantly, don't have to share washer with some dirty people.

Mechanical washing machines appeared in the early 1800s, although they were all hand-powered. Early models cleaned clothes by rubbing them, while later models cleaned clothes by moving them through water. Steam-powered commercial washers appeared in the 1850s, but home washing machines remained entirely hand-powered until the early 1900s, when several companies started making electric machines. The Automatic Electric Washer Company and Hurley Machine Corporation both began selling electric washers in 1907, while Maytag offered an electric wringer washer in 1911. In 1947, Bendix offered the first fully automatic washing machine, and by 1953 spin-dry machines overtook the wringer types in popularity.
The last wringer washer manufactured in the United States was made in June of 1990 at Speed Queen's plant in Ripon, Wisconsin. The major U.S. manufacturers today are General Electric, Maytag (Montgomery Ward), Speed Queen (Amana and Montgomery Ward), Whirlpool (Kenmore), and White Consolidated (Frigidaire and Westinghouse).
Models designed for use in other countries offer different features. One component required on all models sold in England (and possibly soon in the rest of Europe) is called the lid lock. Normally when the lid is raised the washer must stop for safety reasons. However, in England, when the washer is operating the lid must be locked closed.
The Manufacturing
Process
The manufacturing process is split into fabrication (making parts), sub-assembly (putting parts together to make components), and assembly (putting the components together to form the final product). The fabrication process comprises several different procedures, each specific to a particular type of raw materialsheet metal, plastic, or aluminum. Once the constituent parts have been made, they are assembled; major sub-assemblies, or components, include the transmission, the pump, the spin and wash tubs, the balance ring, and the painted parts. Finally, the sub-assemblies are put together inside the shell of the washer, which is then complete.
